The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families was created specifically to help adults and children with their grief and to support them as they rebuild their lives.
Our stand-alone Center is located at 73 Stadley Rough Road in Danbury and features a beautiful Healing Garden and Memorial Brick Walkway. The Center is a safe place where children and families receive support while working through the grief process. Regional Hospice extends services to caregivers, schools and the community.
We are committed to offering Healing Hearts programs free of charge to anyone in the Greater Danbury area and nearby communities.
The Healing Hearts Center offers three separate programs:
The Healing Hearts Children's Program
Children grieve differently than adults. To meet their unique needs Regional Hospice offers support groups for children ages 4 to 18 that focus on using play to express feelings about loss. While the children meet in their groups, a concurrent adult group offers support for parents and caregivers. The Healing Hearts Children's Program provides professional seminars and an annual community workshop on children's grief. During the summer, Healing Hearts also offers a week-long camp for bereaved children ages 5-12.
The Healing Hearts Adult Program
We offer professionally facilitated bereavement support for families of Regional Hospice patients and the community at large. Grieving adults can participate in ongoing and short-term town-based groups.
The Healing Hearts Town Program
Our Town Program is designed to help local neighbors rebuild their lives after loss. A coalition of volunteers, interfaith partners and local community organizations reach out to help people overcome the emptiness that often comes with grief. Together with others from their town, we help people find support, establish new relationships, discover new identities, and achieve independence after loss. The program is active in many of the towns we serve.
